Reagent tablets offer the highest level of assurance that always the exact amount of reagent needed will be used. Most marketed tablet types, such as DPD for determining Chlorine in water, are regulated by strict international standards aimed at guaranteeing that all tablets with that designation (e.g. DPD 1) can also be used in all designated measurement devices made by any manufacturer. Pooli. d. devices and reagents can therefore be combined with other manufacturer’s reagents, and this is also true the other way around. One of the questions discussed often is the difference between RAPID and Photometer tablets. Basically both detect the same content but are different in one important point: RAPID tablets contain a material which “bursts” the tablet, e.g. chemical pulp that expands upon contact with water. This “burst material” would, however, disrupt the light ray of the photometer (suspended particles) which is why RAPID tablets should never be used with electronic devices such as photometers.

Pool-i.d.’s Reagent Tablets.

Pool-i.d.’s Reagent Tablets are sealed in high-quality, durable, aluminium blisters with shelf-lives of up to 10 years. Here a “form pack” process is used; that means that the tablets are inserted into so-called “cups” which make it possible to simply press them out – just like the pharmaceutical industry has been doing for some time now.

This prevents the tablets from coming into contact with the user’s hands, preventing the possibility of a false reading. Pool-i.d. has been using this process since 2003, exactly 5 years ahead of its competitors. Yet, the form pack process offers other advantages which stand the customer in good stead. The cups are cold pressed, sparing the material; and horizontal filling allows us to scan the aluminium for micro-tears which can be automatically removed during the production process. This ensures that the blisters are always sealed.

Distinguishing Features
Pool-i.d. received the 2005 „Golden Wave“ innovation prize in the „Swimming Pool Accessory“ category for assuming the lead role by being the first manufacturer to offer reagent tablets in Aluminium press blisters. The prize is an honor that the leading magazine „Schwimmbad & Sauna“ and an independent jury of experts awards; and receiving it has permitted us to work with pride on other innovations, such as blisters for test strips.
